I have now arrived in Sydney for my last night in Australia. Early tomorrow I fly to new Zealand. Its 28 degrees here - I have just seen that back home there is a big freeze going on - ah well thats life!

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog!
My name's Raymond (or Ray, Raymie or Raymondo depending on who I am talking to and my state of intoxication). I am originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland (or Norn Iron as we say). On the 22nd April 2008 I packed in my cushy computer job in Dublin in order to take a career break and go travelling and doing conservation volunteering around the world.
I hope I made the right decision - perhaps I should have bought that sports car for my mid life crisis instead!
Appendum:
I am now back home - unfortunately while I was away travelling the whole world economy went to pot! This has meant that I have currently no job - but hey look on the bright side - I can at last finish off the blog!
